Applications
Le thymol est utilisé comme conservateur dans l’halothane. Il agit comme agent anesthésique et antiseptique pour le lavage buccal et comme stabilisateur dans les préparations pharmaceutiques. Il inhibe la croissance et la production de lactate tout en réduisant l’absorption du glucose cellulaire dans les bactéries. Il s’agit d’un ingrédient actif dans les dentifrices tels que l’euthymol. Il est impliqué dans le contrôle des acariens varroa et empêche la fermentation et la croissance des moisissures dans les colonies d’abeilles.

Solubilité
Légèrement soluble dans l’eau. Soluble dans le chloroforme, l’alcool et l’éther.
