ENPP3 belongs to a family of ectoenzymes that are involved in hydrolysis of extracellular nucleotides.
These ectoenzymes possess ATPase and ATP pyrophosphatase activities and are type II transmembrane proteins.
ENPP3 is expressed on activated basophils and mast cells during allergic reactions, cardiac muscle, hepatocytes, and epithelial cells.
It is upregulated in colon and bile duct carcinomas.
